The sound was easy to miss. Neighbors began noticing faint, unusual noises coming from a narrow gap between two concrete walls, a spot few people had reason to check.
When rescuers arrived, they discovered the source: a dog wedged deep inside the space, with no way to move on or turn back.
Pinned in a Gap Barely Wider Than His Body
The opening was barely wide enough for him to fit. He was lodged so tightly that he could not push forward, yet he could not pull himself backward either. Every breath looked like an effort. By then he had been stuck for nearly 18 hours, and he was shaking, frightened and dangerously dehydrated. Nothing about the scene allowed for a quick fix.

Water Before Any Plan
The Animal Warriors India team understood immediately that rushing could make everything worse. Before attempting any extraction, they concentrated on keeping the dog alive and stable. They offered him water with care, and he drank desperately, a clear sign of how long he had gone without relief. Only after he had regained a little strength did the rescuers start working out how to bring him out without causing injury.
Rope, Lubricant and Slow Pulls
Force was not the approach. A rope was placed around his body in a way meant to support him without squeezing or causing pain. A safe lubricant was applied along the walls to reduce friction and help him slide through the tight space.
Then came the slowest part: moving him inch by inch. Each pull was controlled, and each pause was deliberate. The rescuers spoke softly to keep him calm, because fear alone could have made him struggle and hurt himself.

Standing in the Open
At last, the dog slid free. For a moment he stood almost motionless, as though the open ground in front of him had not yet registered. Then he began to move, slowly at first and then faster. Within seconds he was running across the grass with his tail wagging, able to breathe and walk freely again.
There was no loud celebration at the end, only a quiet moment of freedom. The gap that had held him for nearly 18 hours no longer did. What happened to him afterward was not part of the account.
