A mother dog kept returning to the same small opening in the ground. She paced around it, barked into it, and leaned over the edge as if she were trying to coax something up from below.
Two of her puppies had slipped into a narrow borewell pipe and dropped out of sight. What followed was a long, careful rescue that depended on patience more than speed.
A Cry Rising From Beneath the Ground
At the surface, there was almost nothing to see. The opening of the pipe was small, and the darkness below hid the puppies completely. What people could hear, and could not ignore, was the mother. She barked without stopping, circled the spot, and kept lowering her head to look down into the hole.
Her persistence told the story before anyone had a clear view. The puppies were still alive somewhere beneath her, and they needed help that she could not give them herself.
Video: Rescuers Dig Beside a Borewell to Reach Two Trapped Puppies
Why the Borewell Was Such a Dangerous Trap
The borewell was long and narrow, with no room for a person to climb inside. When rescuers aimed flashlights down the shaft, they finally saw the puppies. The two of them were wedged against the damp inner wall, their small bodies smeared with mud. They were frightened and barely moving.
Conditions made the problem more urgent. The air was limited and the space was tight, so every passing minute raised the danger. Trying to pull the puppies up from above was not simply difficult. It would not work at all.
A Plan Built on Patience
The Animal Warriors Conservation Society arrived and studied the situation before acting. Rather than rushing into a risky attempt, the team chose a slower approach: dig a parallel pit beside the borewell.
That decision mattered because it offered the only safe way to reach the puppies without risking a collapse of the pipe. The plan demanded time, coordination and hard physical work. It also gave the puppies their best chance.
Digging Down, One Shovelful at a Time
Once the digging began, local young people stepped forward to help. Soil was lifted, passed along and cleared away in a steady rhythm. The deeper the pit became, the heavier the earth grew.
After hours of effort, the team reached the level where the puppies were trapped. Then the pace changed again. Using a handheld cutter, the rescuers carefully sliced into a section of the plastic pipe. Each movement was slow and deliberate. They avoided sudden noise and sharp force, because the goal was simply to keep the puppies safe.
When the Pipe Finally Opened
As soon as the opening was wide enough, gentle hands reached inside. The video of the rescue follows the sequence closely: the careful excavation, the tense quiet while the pipe was cut, and the moment the first puppy was lifted back into daylight.
Watching it, it is easy to see how much depended on cooperation. A group of people, guided by concern for two small animals, solved a problem that could never have been handled by simply reaching down from the top.
Muddy, Shaking and Alive
The puppies came up one by one. Both were covered in mud and trembling from fear and exhaustion, but they were alive after hours underground. Rescuers cleaned them right away and checked them over. Small signs, such as a twitch or a soft whimper, brought visible relief to the people standing nearby.
After so long in the dark and in such a tight space, being lifted into open air was a sharp change.

Back Beside Their Mother
The last step needed no explanation. The puppies were placed beside their mother, and she rushed to them at once. She licked their faces, nudged them close and nursed them, keeping them within reach.
The rescue began with cries rising from underground and ended with a quiet reunion at the surface. It rested on a sound decision to wait, dig and cut with care, and on the rescuers and local helpers who followed that plan through to the end.
